your high school days? Okay, so if you are reading this, you are likely, in most cases, to barely be out of high school. So that doesn't count. If someone happens to surf around and hit this entry though and are of my age or older, then this is more for you. And for those who believe they know me pretty well.
Two interesting things happened this week. The first is finding this web site:
http://www.tchsyearbooks.com/ . See, Tyler County High School was the first county wide high school in West Virginia. Founded back in the early 1900s, it was around until 1993, when educators and politicians thought it better to build a brand new school and move. The old building is now a museum.
The above web site was created to put all the original high school yearbooks up on line. For instance, check out
http://www.tchsyearbooks.com/1973_index.htm, where my high school senior picture, as well as those of my classmates, can be found. I am probably in some of the other photos in that book. And of course, there are some pictures in the 1970-1972 books as well. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find some more specific pages...
A week or so ago, I noticed that over on Facebook, some of the college yearbook pictures began to show up (tagging me - lvirden - ) in at least one.
Quite amusing.
Also, interesting to me anyways, was that at the funeral of my friend Bill Cotner yesterday, some of the family brought some of the family photo albums - with pictures dating clear back to the late 1800s. In some of those pictures, I saw some of the Virdens from their family tree. That was interesting. I didn't see any names that I recognized, but it was still quite interesting.
Yesterday, temperatures reached the 40s outside. That was so welcome. Today, however, they are back down in the 20s or lower and I am again hurting from the cold. Maybe some day I'll be able to afford to be a snowbird...
